When you look at this poor video bereft of its soundtrack, it is worth remembering that, despite their whining about downloading, the profits of record companies is huge. WMG, the world’s fourth largest record label, has an annual income of $ 42.1 billion. As for Universal Music, the third largest, the turnover of these last years would be : 2005: 4893 million euros, 2006: 4955 million euros, 2007: 4870 million euros, 2008: 4650 million euros … For the first nine months of 2010, the announced income for Universal Music already amounts to 3142 million euros …. But piling indecent profits doesn’t seems enough, and the record companies are now involved in « financial censorship, » preventing the spreading of artists and free exchange between people. This is what happens when art and entertainment is run by businessmen. The internet is pretty much the last bastion of freedom of speech, where everyone can share resources, opinions, and information, whatever its means or origins. YouTube should remain that fun place where you can find everything you can think of. @BloatedSensations I’m a professional leech. That’s what I do for a living. I’ll gladly do it at your house for free. Actually I probably wouldn’t leave until long after you’d run screaming into the night and never returned. I’d hog the shower, eat all the food in the fridge, steal anything that isn’t nailed down, break anything that IS nailed down, and chant « ARE WE NOT MEN? » at you until you’re shouting « WE ARE DEVO! » in your sleep. So, be careful what you wish for, dude, you might get it.

@stacksovids12 You are so right. I bought a Pink Floyd dvd after watching it many times on here, in low quality, in a window the size of a postcard. That’s how it works. Let’s all just download WMG songs for nothing…even if we don’t like the song, we have the satisfaction of depriving them of income.
I’m a massive devo fan but if devo gave a shit about their fans they would sort this crap out. People are SPREADING the Devo word on places like Youtube, they’re not profiting from it. Let people see the real deal stuff from the 1970′s/80′s because that’s WHY people love Devo. It’s pathetic that the band let it get blocked by the ‘Rod Rooter’ of the current corporate setup.
I get around the WMG by watching the video in one window and synchronizing the music with another window that has the sound. Not difficult and bypasses? WMG stupidity. Only way WMG can prevent you doing it is to remove the video and the sound. However, if they did that with all ‘copyright issues’ there would be nothing on youtube at all. Good old WMG, happy days!
To all of the people complaining about WMG removing the soundtrack to this video, let me ask you this: What do you do for a living? And, when can I expect you at my house to do it for free? Stop being so freakin’ greedy and selfish. You want to hear the song? It’s available on ITunes for like a buck. And, when you buy it there, the artists that put the hard work, time and talent into creating it actually get compensated for their work.

@Hoosia Yes, I hereby note the error; but it wasn’t because of my spelling, because I’m a good speler. Its the dickhead plastic spastic Western technology, from which we probably should be devolving from. The stop/start computer plastic crap caused that typo.

If this is all about the concept of devolving, that is, « devolution », then it should be noted that this is not only a male thing, because there are females involved in the cast of this. If devolution seeks to reverse the process of evolution, then could it be counted as being anti-Darwinian, or more exactly be considered as running counter to Darwinianism. And, then, it still doesn’t give us[we] the clear delinianation about where we are supposed to be heading within the regime of « devolution ».

I’ve just had a thought: WMG, you get money from people BUYING your albums. It is not theft to SHARE that music, because by SHARING, people will be more tempted to buy CDs. You could argue that people are ‘stealing’ as they listen and don’t buy the CD, but that just makes you a load of grabby, greedy fucks, to be perfectly honest.
